The problem
Training outside your usual gym was a hassle.
Noova wanted to connect people with gyms, studios and personal trainers around town, with drop-in classes, without locking anyone into a plan.
Drop-in classes at gyms, studios and with personal trainers, without being locked into a plan.
The challenge was showing a wide range of options without becoming a confusing catalog, and building trust with people who had never set foot in those places.
Show lots of options without a confusing catalog, and build trust with people new to the place.

The brand: the “n” in motion and the app in use.
The solution
What we did
We created a short, recognizable brand, the “n” in motion in purple, and an app that starts with the right question: what you want to train and when.
A short brand, the “n” in motion, and an app that starts by asking what to train and when.
The landing explains the idea in one line and shows the app working, so people see in seconds why to download it.
Decisions
The 3 key decisions
What we decided before designing, and why.
Start with the time, not the place
Search starts with when the person can work out. The map and venues come next, already filtered.
Real people on display
Photos of people who train and people who teach on every screen, so an unfamiliar place feels close.
One purple, used with discipline
The palette is restrained: purple marks actions, everything else stays neutral. The app stays clean even with lots of information.
Purple marks actions and the rest stays neutral. Clean even with lots of information.
Project
The result

01 The app's first screens.

02 Find what's nearby and what's happening now.

03 The same experience on tablet.

04 “One app, every way to move.”

05 Landing page in perspective.

06 The app's welcome screen.
